CHRISTmas!

Its just a few weeks away from Christmas and I'm sooo excited! It is by far my favorite time of year! I could sit at home all day just enjoying the weather and the rare snow we get in NC, drinking hot chocolate and being with family!

So in this post I'm going to talk about decorations! I have two types of Christmas decorations in my house!
-The Traditional decorations: these decorations are the ones we put up every year on our giant (real!) Christmas tree in our living room. Our colors are red and gold. We have a bunch of nicer ornaments, and then the personal ones from when I was little, and to now! We have other decorations like the nutcracker, a wreath, stockings, and the nativity you can see in the picture below!

-Then I have my personal, girly decorations in my room! Since my room is light purple, I went with a turquoise themed tree! It is white with shiny turquoise and silver ornaments of Santa, snowmen, stars, presents, and bows! I also have two ornaments with my name Meredith on it, because it is so rare to ever see ones with my name, we buy them if we see it!

Comment your Christmas themes and colors, what is different about yours?! :)

Be Thankful :)

Today is Thankgiving so my focus on this blog won't be all about preppy! I'd like to talk about being thankful. If you would just take 2 minutes to read this, I would love it! Thanksgiving is a lot of things, and I'm going to explain what I think about it!

What it isn't: it is not a day just to eat so much that you gain 5 lbs, even though that might happen ;) . It's also not just about getting school off, although I'm glad we do! Also, it isn't about preparing to go shopping at 3 Am and get some great Christmas presents, but most of America does it anyways. All these things seem to be the focus on thanksgiving, when you forget what the true meaning is.

What it is to me: I think thanksgiving should be about thanking God for all that He has given us, because we surely don't deserve it :). It is also about family, and truly having a good day where everyone is happy. I don't live near family, so on thanksgiving its just me, my brother, Mom, and Dad. But, it is enough for me, because I know I am very blessed.

Please, take today and really think about it, and I hope you have the best thanksgiving you possibly can! (And be safe shopping tomorrow!) :)

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just 2 days away and I have some tips for you! A lot of you will be visiting family, or just want to look nice. I have the perfect outfit ideas for you!

Casual: if you want to enjoy the fall weather, and be cozy, choose a vest! JCrew has so many options, and so do places like: old navy, vineyard vines, and Patagonia! Add some boots, and while your at it, get yourselves a Starbucks ;)

Dressy: if you want to impress some family, or just look nice for the day, you can always wear a dress! I love some of the recent dresses at banana republic, but if you already own some dresses, put together an outfit with a nice necklace, some flats, and a longchamp!

I hope whatever you choose, that you have a GREAT day and be thankful for what to have!

DIY glitter state!

So this weekend I was at Micheals and saw this paper, and had to get it! This is what I did with it:
Here is how you can make your own!
You can get the glitter paper at places like Michaels or any art stores!
Then you need construction paper, scissors and glue!
You also should print out a picture of the state you want to do. I did NC! Then cut it out like this.
Now put it on the back of the glitter paper and trace the edges. When done cut out your state!
I added a heart near where I live, by cutting out red construction paper. Last I glues it all to black paper to make it stand out!
Finished!
Comment if you like the idea, and if you do one, or have done one send me a picture!

My Favorite Fall shoes!

Its getting a lot colder lately, and I don't think you want to be wearing sandals. Here are 5 best shoes to wear as the fall becomes winter!
1) Hunter boots. They work as rainboots, but are also great just to keep your feet warm and are stylish!

2) Jack Rogers flats. Jack Rogers are mainly known for their sandals but I've recently found these! I don't own a pair but absolutely love them and they are cuter than most shoes I've seen!

3) Uggs. These are very popular and most girls where I live own them, but they are still cute! I think they go with almost anything, and come in so many colors.

4) Tory burch boots. These brown leather boots are perfect!!! I want them sooo badly and would be a great Christmas present ;)

5) Vans. Vans are really popular now but not many people have these! The vans with white anchors are a great match for a outfit with skinny jeans and a sweater.
